Virtual Exchange Connects IVE Engineering Students with Peers from Around the World
Jul 2021

Thanks to modern technology, IVE Engineering has been able to actively liaise with overseas institutions to create online exchange activities for students during the COVID-19 pandemic, when in-person interaction has been limited. From November 2020 to August 2021, virtual activities brought together approximately 75 Japanese students from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) (Akashi College, Nagano College, Nara College and Tokuyama College), 15 Singaporean students from Republic Polytechnic and 40 IVE Engineering students via an exchange platform. The participating students were able to build friendships and explore different cultures online.

From 28 June to 2 July 2021, approximately 110 IVE Engineering students and teachers joined a 5-day international online summer camp organised by Shenzhen Polytechnic, China. This was an eye-opening experience for the participating students. They had the chance to interact with approximately 1,100 students from 12 countries, namely Belarus, Côte d’Ivoire, China, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Singapore and Turkey. In addition, the participants learned about China’s history, culture and economic development and the Chinese martial art “Kung Fu”.
