Aug 2013
Thirty three professors and students from Institute of National Colleges of Technology (INCT) visited IVE (Tsing Yi) from August 18 to August 27. The guests come from different areas in Japan including Kagoshima, Nagano, Kumamoto, Tokuyama, Kitakyushu, Kurume and Okinawa. The INCT students joined the workshops of bridge building and English training. IVE Engineering students participated in the workshops and assisted the Japanese students to complete the tasks. INCT students and professors visited a few factories and facilities in Hong Kong including Dah Chong Hong (Motor Service Centre) Ltd, Lee Kee Group, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and the Hong Kong Productivity Council. During the weekend, IVE Engineering students became tour guides to introduce Hong Kong to the INCT guests. They visited famous spots like the Ocean Park, Sham Shui Po Computer Centre and Stanley Market. It was a great chance for INCT students to experience the real Hong Kong culture. Interestingly, it was the first time for our Japanese guests to use long forks for barbecue, as they use grill nets at home. The programme enabled IVE Engineering students and INCT students to engage in intellectual and cultural exchange, fostering a greater understanding of each other.
