The IVE Engineering Higher Diploma covers various engineering areas and provides opportunities to engage with new technologies such as BIM, helping me grasp the digitalisation trend in the engineering industry. I have worked with a team using 4D BIM models to simulate construction scenarios for railway projects, adding a time axis to the existing 3D drawings to understand the construction process better and accelerate construction efficiency.
BIM serves as a common language for all participants in engineering projects, enhancing design and construction efficiency, approval speed, and post-delivery maintenance management. There is a strong demand in the industry for engineering professionals who can master the application of new technologies. I encourage graduates who are interested in the engineering profession to equip themselves with relevant skills early on and seize the opportunities for industry development.
