My HKDSE results met the requirements for university admission, but as the subjects did not align with my interests, I chose to enter the workplace directly. While working, I realised the importance of specialisation for career development, prompting me to return to campus and pursue the Higher Diploma in Surveying at IVE Engineering.
During my pursuit of the Higher Diploma, I had the opportunity to explore various aspects of engineering, which helped me better understand my interests. When it came to choosing articulation at University, teachers carefully analyzed my strengths and industry characteristics, providing suitable suggestions. Ultimately, I chose to develop my career in the field of quantity surveying, gradually embarking on the path to becoming a surveyor.
Furthermore, the internships arranged by IVE Engineering laid a solid foundation for my career. I recall before graduating with the Higher Diploma, I had to intern at a construction company. I was fortunate to be involved in the construction process of the M+ Museum, a new cultural landmark in Hong Kong. This internship not only broadened my horizons but also paved the way for my future career. After graduating from university, I rejoined the same company as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
