IVE Engineering Discipline graduates shine at 44th WorldSkills Competition 2017

IVE Engineering Discipline competitors demonstrated their excellence by winning Medallions for Excellence in Mechatronics and Mobile Robotics at the 44th Worldskills Competition.

Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering graduates, So Tsz Kin and Kong Chun Yat, ranked 4th in Mechatronics. They were also named the Best of Nation team. Meanwhile, Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering graduates, Ng Pak Yeung and Leung Ka Ching ranked 5th in Mobile Robotics in a crowded field of more than 20 teams. Our Medallion for Excellence winners were able to compound their triumphs by comparing notes with their talented young counterparts from all over the world and thus further enhance their professional skills.

The biennial WorldSkills Competition is hailed as the ‘Skills Olympics’. The competition in 2017 was held in Abu Dhabi and tested the skills of competitors in 51 different fields. It attracted over 1,300 talented young people from around 60 countries and regions—the largest number of competitors to ever take part in the event.
