In Hong Kong, the count of electric vehicles has surged to approximately 93,000 as of April 2024, constituting about 10.3% of the total vehicle population. With the local electric vehicle (EV) market demonstrating steady growth, the industry's demand for skilled technical professionals has risen, along with the increasing technical requirements for the EV technology.

On 28th May 2024, the Electric Vehicles Training Centre at IVE officially opened in IVE (Tsing Yi), featuring cutting-edge training facilities tailored to industry standards. The honored presence of Mr. Raymond Wu, Deputy Director of Environmental Protection Department marked the inauguration ceremony. The centre aimed to provide students with holistic training in vehicle structure and design, business proficiency and specialized techniques, preparing them for the evolving electric vehicle sector. Offering three EV maintenance-related programmes, the centre has already trained over a hundred individuals within by 2024. Envisioned to meet the escalating market demand, the centre remains dedicated to developing pertinent programmes in support of Hong Kong's green transportation objectives.
