The Engineering Discipline of the Vocational Training Council (VTC) has long been committed to advancing collaboration in engineering education between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, with the aim of cultivating professionals equipped with an international perspective and strong practical competence. Recently, the Engineering Discipline and the Zhuhai Technician College formally signed a joint‑training agreement under the Vocational Professionals Admission Scheme (VPAS), with a focus on electrical engineering. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the cross‑boundary development of engineering talent.
Under the agreement, the Mechatronics programme of the Zhuhai Technician College will be closely aligned with our Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering programme. Through curriculum alignment and pedagogical innovation, students from both institutions will be offered cross‑boundary learning opportunities and, upon graduation, will obtain professional qualifications awarded by both institutions. This dual‑qualification pathway will broaden students’ career prospects and enhance their competitiveness in the job market.
This collaboration fully leverages the regional strengths of the Greater Bay Area, combining the Zhuhai Technician College’s strong foundation in training facilities and industry integration with the Engineering Discipline’s expertise in curriculum design, industry networks, and international standards. Together, the two institutions will establish a seamless pathway connecting learning and employment across the region. Joint efforts will also be devoted to curriculum alignment, staff exchanges, and internship arrangements, ensuring that talent development aligns with the needs of industries in both Zhuhai and Hong Kong.
The Engineering Discipline will continue to expand partnerships with educational institutions and enterprises across the Greater Bay Area, creating broader development platforms for students and injecting new talent with cross‑boundary experience and professional engineering skills into Hong Kong’s engineering sector.
