Engineering Discipline Participates in the International Hydrogen Energy Development Forum 2026, Sharing New Developments in Hydrogen Training
May 2026

The Engineering Discipline of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE Engineering) participated in the International Hydrogen Development Forum 2026, held from 18 to 20 May 2026. Organised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and co-organised by the China Hydrogen Alliance, the Forum provided an excellent platform for IVE Engineering to articulate its strategic positioning within the hydrogen energy landscape and to showcase its comprehensive hydrogen-related training programmes.

During the Forum, IVE Engineering delivered a presentation outlining its strategic role in hydrogen energy development. The presentation provided a systematic introduction to its training programmes, which span a broad spectrum of the hydrogen industry value chain. These initiatives aim to cultivate engineering professionals equipped with both specialised knowledge and practical competencies, thereby supporting Hong Kong’s long-term ambition to develop and demonstrate a comprehensive hydrogen energy ecosystem.

This initiative also aligns closely with the national direction outlined in the 15th Five-Year Plan, which places strong emphasis on accelerating the green energy transition, advancing hydrogen energy development, and nurturing talent to support emerging low-carbon industries. By strengthening education and training in hydrogen technologies, IVE Engineering actively contributes to this national agenda, facilitating the development of a skilled workforce to support both regional and national sustainability goals.

In addition to the presentation, IVE Engineering set up an exhibition booth at the venue. Experienced teaching staff were on hand to answer enquiries from visitors and to demonstrate a variety of teaching facilities and experimental apparatus. This hands-on approach promoted public understanding of hydrogen science and technology, raising awareness and fostering interest in this emerging energy source among the wider community.

This participation underscores the strong collaboration between IVE Engineering and government departments, industry partners, and various sectors of society. We remain committed to nurturing talent in hydrogen energy and advancing public education in this field, contributing to Hong Kong’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality.
