The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) held the presentation ceremony for the 21st Hong Kong Housing Society Award (HKHS Award) on 31st January, recognising students who have demonstrated exceptional performance in courses related to housing and elderly-services. This year, a total of 100 students from higher education institutions were honoured, each receiving a scholarship of HK$10,000 to encourage their continued studies and future contributions to society.
Among the 100 awardees from local tertiary institutions, 19 students from IVE’s Engineering Higher Diploma programmes distinguished themselves through exceptional academic performance and commitment to respective professions. Their recognition underscores the success of IVE Engineering in nurturing technical talent for the construction industry.
Notably, Mr Kelvin Mok, a second-year student in the Higher Diploma in Building Services Engineering programme, was further presented with the inaugural "Rising Changemaker Prize", which carries an additional HK$40,000. Mr Mok proposed the development of a "Smart Elderly Community in the Greater Bay Area", integrating Hong Kong's medical expertise with the spatial and cost advantages of the Greater Bay Area to provide a more comprehensive and viable solution for cross-border elderly care. This proposal exemplifies how IVE Engineering students employ innovative approaches to address societal needs, offering fresh perspectives on elderly services and community planning.
These accolades not only recognise the individual diligence and talent of the students but also highlight how IVE Engineering's programmes remain aligned with contemporary and societal demands, achieving excellence in cultivating young engineering professionals who possess both innovative thinking and practical skills. By applying their acquired expertise creatively and through their observation of societal issues, our students demonstrate the outstanding performance of IVE Engineering in preparing talent to tackle challenges in housing construction, community planning, and the design of age-friendly environments.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all awardees. We look forward to their continued growth, innovation and professional contributions to the engineering and built-environment sectors in Hong Kong and beyond.
