IVE Engineering Students Triumph at Samsung's Solve for Tomorrow 2025-2026
Apr 2026

IVE Engineering proudly congratulates our student teams from Higher Diploma in Computer and Electronic Engineering (EG114403) on their outstanding results at the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2025-2026 competition. The competition, held on 28 March 2026, empowers young minds to apply STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) knowledge to address real-life challenges, nurturing essential competencies in problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork through hands-on innovation.

In a strong field of 250 teams from over 100 local secondary schools and tertiary institutions, including The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), three IVE teams captured the Champion, First Runner-up and Merit titles in the Tertiary Category. Their achievements reflects the creativity, technical capability, and future-ready mindset we nurture at IVE.

Introduction of the student projects:

"AquaPulse" is an AI-powered coastal safety and protection system that integrates tidal and solar energy, equipped with an energy storage battery pack for uninterrupted 24/7 operation. The system integrates millimeter-wave radar and AI visual recognition technology, enabling reliable detection of anomalies such as a person falling into the sea even at night or in harsh weather. Upon detecting an anomaly, the system automatically notifies rescue teams in real-time through a light pole positioning function, reducing critical response time. "AquaPulse" also monitors environmental data such as temperature and wave height, contributing to a safer and more sustainable waterfront for Hong Kong.

"PipeScrooge" is an AIoT-based water pipe pressure monitoring and automatic control system. Through sensors, a cloud platform, and AI predictive models, it monitors water pressure changes in real-time, provides early warnings for pipe rupture risks, and automatically adjusts valves to effectively prevent leaks and non-revenue water loss. The system can be installed non-invasively into existing building pipelines, making it particularly suitable for high-density urban areas. It helps enhance water supply stability and maintenance efficiency.

"PantryPal" is an AI-powered dietary management application that helps users track ingredient inventory, monitor expiry dates, and recommend recipes based on available ingredients, thereby reducing food waste. The system analyzes ingredient status, reminds users to prioritize items nearing expiry, improving household meal preparation efficiency. It also fosters eco-conscious eating habits and promotes a smarter, more sustainable lifestyle.
