13th Infrastructure Building Competition for Secondary Schools: a cradle for tomorrow’s engineers
Mar 2016
The final competition and prize presentation ceremony of the 13th Infrastructure Building Competition for Secondary Schools, jointly organised by the Engineering Discipline of the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Construction Association, was held on 19 March 2016. This year, the competition was showcased in the public arena at the Cyberport Arcade to further enhance public engagement. The 2016 competition attracted around 183 teams with around 1,100 students and teachers from 89 secondary schools, including entries from Macau. Armed with wooden sticks and glue, participants were tasked to build a model which could withstand heavy loading. Through this annual competition, the organisers hope to encourage more secondary students into science and engineering studies. Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration, HKSAR Government, was also invited as the Guest of Honour of the ceremony.
