The IVE Engineering Discipline is proud to announce that a team of three “Higher Diploma in Building Services Engineering” (EG114702) students has won the Tertiary Champion award in the HK Electric "Green Energy Dreams Come True" Competition 2025/26.
The competition was held on 11 July 2026, where the IVE team outperformed teams from other institutions including the University of Hong Kong (HKU), the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), City University of Hong Kong (CityU), and HKU Space.

ReCondense – Green Engineering Cycle System for Air-Conditioning Condensate Water Recovery :
The ReCondense project introduces an innovative green engineering cycle that transforms wasted air conditioning condensate into a sustainable non potable water source. Condensate is collected from air handling units, stored, then processed through sand filtration, chemical disinfection dosing, and final UV sterilisation. Treated water is automatically distributed for landscape irrigation and general building cleaning. The modular, low cost design is compatible with existing building infrastructure and supports Hong Kong's “Carbon Neutrality 2050” goal. The proposed system is expected to significantly reduce municipal water consumption while contributing to long-term carbon emission reductions.
