IVE Engineering launches new professional programmes for Maritime Industry under Engineering Training Subsidy Scheme
Sep 2016

IVE Engineering held a ceremony at the Maritime Services Training Institute to launch a range of new professional programmes for the maritime industry on 8 September 2016. The first-ever top-up degree programme offered in collaboration with the Warsash Maritime Academy of Southampton Solent University (WMA) of the UK has been rolled out, aiming to drive the development of the maritime industry through comprehensive manpower training. The ceremony was officiated by Lord Mountevans, The Right Honourable Lord Mayor of London; Joey Lam, HKSAR Deputy Secretary for Transport and Housing (Transport); Richard Flood, Deputy Trade Commissioner of British Consulate-General Hong Kong; Dr Clement Chen, VTC Chairman and Mrs Carrie Yau, VTC Executive Director. After the ceremony, the guests went on a tour of the MSTI facilities including the Survival Drill Tank, Full Mission Shiphandling Simulator Centre and mock-up bridge under the guidance of teachers and students of MSTI.

The IVE Engineering is keen to provide flexible and diverse study pathways, and promote lifelong learning to help students advance their career development. The HKSAR Government has recently approved a new commitment of HK$200 million for VTC to implement a Pilot Subsidy Scheme, Engineering Training Subsidy Scheme (ETSS), for students of professional part-time courses covering part-time programmes in maritime, engineering and construction fields.
