VTC Skills Fiesta 2025
Nov 2025

On 26 October, visitors of all ages enjoyed a fun-filled day on the Great Lawn in the West Kowloon Cultural District, where the Vocational Training Council (VTC) held the VTC Skills Fiesta 2025. Featuring more than 40 performances and booths, including stage shows, creative workshops, experience activities, and innovative games, the aim of the Fiesta was to showcase the multi-faceted talents of students pursuing Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and enable the public to experience the fun of trying different skills.

During the event, the IVE Engineering Discipline organised several workshops and interactive games aimed at highlighting IVE Engineering accomplishments and expertise to the Fiesta’s participants. The workshops and interactive games included:

  • DIY Electronic Bluetooth Audio Workshop: Guided by coaches from IVE Engineering, participants built an electronic Bluetooth audio speaker and experienced the joy of assembling electronics.
  • Fun with Knots: The objective of this workshop was to introduce participants to the basic principles of knot tying, including the names, applications, and historical significance of various knots. Participants became sailors for the day, learning to tie nautical knots while crafting their own stylish bracelets.
  • Obstacle Course – RC Robot Adventures: Participants remotely controlled a mechanical device assembled by students, sprinting to the target while avoiding traps, and gained an understanding of mechanical vehicle operation.
  • Green Wheels, Maths Deal: Participants assembled a solar car model and explored the connections between renewable energy, automatic parking, and mathematics.
  • Building Survey Drone: Participants attempted to control drones  and inspected building models from different angles, using technology to discover building hazards.

A highlight of the day was the debut of the solar-powered car SOPHIE 8x, which triumphed at the World Solar Challenge 2025 in Australia. This occasion highlighted the importance of sustainable transportation and advances in education on technology. Visitors had the opportunity to view and photograph the World Solar Challenge award winner up close.
