Japanese Scholars visited IVE Engineering to study Post-secondary Education in Hong Kong
Feb 2014

IVE (Tsing Yi) received two honourable guests from Japan in February. Professor Nakoki Kushida of Oshima National College of Maritime Technology and Professor Kazuhito Amanai from Tokuyama College of Technology visited the campus as part of the field trip of the research on the education system in Hong Kong and China.

To facilitate a greater understanding of IVE, Senior Project Officer of Engineering Discipline Planning Office, Andrew Cheng, gave a presentation, explaining the institute and faculty's mission and characteristics; students' performance; and the institute's role in Hong Kong's reformed education system.

Our guests also had a short tour around IVE (Tsing Yi), in which they visited several departments' workshops and laboratories, including Concrete & Structures Laboratory, Jockey Club Heavy Vehicles Emission Testing & Research Centre, SOPHIE (Solar Powered Electric Vehicle) Workshop and Electrical Services Laboratory.

The visit was a great opportunity for exchange and interaction. Both scholars praised Hong Kong students' English proficiencies, and discussed the importance of vocational education and industry in Hong Kong.
