IVE Engineering is proud to announce that our TWO student teams have achieved outstanding success at the prestigious HKIE Control, Automation & Instrumentation (CA) Division 2025/2026 Paper Competition. Competing against elite student talents across Hong Kong, the 2 teams secured the Tertiary Level – Merit with Credit 1 award and Merit with Credit.
Organised by the HKIE CA Division, the annual flagship competition inspires young engineers to showcase cutting-edge concepts in automation, robotics, and smart systems.
Merit with Credit 1 award (Tertiary Level)
Award-winning Project: B-SAFE
B-SAFE is an AI-powered building inspection platform. By leveraging Ultra-Wideband (UWB) for precise indoor positioning and Large Language Models (LLMs) to instantly analyse defects from a simple smartphone photo, the system generates traceable 'Digital Building Medical Records' to fully automate and streamline the inspection workflow.

Award-winning Project: Vision-Based Traffic Speed Measurement
The project developed an automated traffic speed measurement system that converts existing CCTV video streams into an AI-enabled software-defined instrument for real-time vehicle speed estimation. It uses YOLOv8 for vehicle detection, ByteTrack for multi-object tracking, and homography to convert image coordinates into real-world ground-plane coordinates for speed calculation.
