VTC Brings Together Industry and Social Welfare Sector at New Energy Vehicles Day
Aug 2026

The Engineering Discipline of Vocational Training Council (VTC) [IVE Engineering] recently organised the inaugural "New Energy Vehicles Day for Social Welfare Sector" on 7 August 2026 at IVE (Tsing Yi), bringing together over 60 social welfare organisations, industry partners, vehicle suppliers and charging service providers to explore the latest developments in New Energy Vehicles (NEV) technologies and accessible transport solutions.

Supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust under the JC Green Horsepower Scheme, the event aimed to facilitate the transition of social welfare organisations towards greener and lower-carbon transport solutions. Through a combination of vehicle showcases, technical seminars and networking opportunities, participants gained first-hand insights into NEV adoption, charging infrastructure and operational best practices.

A highlight of the event was the exhibition of various new energy vehicless designed to meet the diverse transport needs of the social welfare sector, including low-floor electric minibuses, wheelchair-accessible electric taxis and electric buses equipped with accessibility features such as wheelchair ramps, lifting platforms, restraint systems and 360-degree camera systems.

IVE Engineering has been actively supporting manpower development for Hong Kong's emerging new energy transport sector through specialised programmes in electric vehicles maintenance and charging technologies. Looking ahead, VTC will continue to strengthen industry collaboration, enhance training facilities and support research and development initiatives to advance the sustainable transport ecosystem in Hong Kong.
