We are proud to announce that a graduate from the Higher Diploma in Computer and Electronic Engineering at IVE Engineering has won the Start-up Division Award at the NEXX AI and Innovation Awards 2026. Held on 15 May 2026 and organized by the NEXX Innovation Alliance . This prestigious award recognizes institutions and individuals who are driving digital transformation, demonstrating forward-thinking leadership, and creating tangible impact through artificial intelligence and innovation.
There are two Divisions in the competition, Enterprise and Start-up. The NEXX Innovation Alliance honours projects that embody cutting-edge technology and real-world application The winning student, YU Ho Kwan, Marcus is a talented alumnus who graduated from our Higher Diploma in Computer and Electronic Engineering (EG114403) and is now continuing his studies in the Computer Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) – a pathway perfectly aligned with his academic and professional foundation at IVE.
Marcus’s winning entry — an AI-powered anti-drowsiness system designed specifically for professional and long-distance drivers. It accurately detects driver fatigue through a dual-verification process using real-time facial monitoring and heart rate data. Upon detecting drowsiness, the system actively releases a specialized refreshing aroma, overcoming traditional scent fatigue to effectively keep the driver awake — showcased exceptional technical skill, entrepreneurial vision, and a deep understanding of user-centered digital solutions.
His achievement stands as a testament to the quality of talent nurtured at IVE Engineering. This success not only highlights his innovative mindset but also reflects IVE’s commitment to cultivating leaders in AI and digital transformation.
